Wondering about the new badge in my sidebar to the right that says Garden Designers Roundtable? It's a perfect example of a little idea that unexpectedly took off.
Last December on a whim, I invited three other bloggers to join me in posting on the same topic Does Your Garden Designer Practice What She/He Preaches? It was a lot of fun and if it were up to me, that would have been the end of it as I chased after the next shiny object that happened my way. But co-blogger Scott Hokunson enjoyed the experience so much he organized an even more ambitious version in January on Celebrating Regional Diversity. Things just kept snowballing, and Garden Designer's Roundtable was born. Here's the official description:

If you happened to notice I haven’t been tweeting or visiting blogs as often lately (
did anyone notice?) it’s because I’ve been attending film school. Although many folks are quite successful with the dive-right-in approach, I’m an education junkie, so when I want to learn something new, my first choice is usually to head back to school.

On Valentine’s Day, we traditionally celebrate new love, enduring love, passion (both the requited and unrequited variety) and of course, the special sort of friendship that can only be expressed by giving everyone in your fourth grade class a valentine, whether you like them or not. Frankly, I think we gardeners need to stake a claim to Valentine’s Day as our own personal holiday, because speaking for myself, at one time or another I’ve felt every degree of love (or lack thereof) that there IS for my garden.
